Woman Hit While Crossing Linden Street In Serious Condition

A 29-year-old woman suffered serious injuries Wednesday night when she was struck by a vehicle, Lt. Christopher Guenther of the Linden Police Department said in a statement.

The woman was crossing East Elizabeth Avenue at McCandless Street around 10 p.m. when she was hit by a Ford Escape heading east on East Elizabeth, Geunther said.

The woman was taken to University Hospital in Newark. The driver was unhurt and remained on the scene. The driver is cooperating with police, Guenther also said.

The crash is under investigation by the Linden Traffic Bureau. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Investigator Pete Hammer at 908-474-8505.
